Sasamat Volunteer Firefighters Association 2024 Bursary

To all Anmore & Belcarra Grade 12 Students. Amount of Bursary: $750

Criteria:

• Must be a Resident of Anmore / Belcarra
• Available to Graduating Students entering a Post Secondary Education program in the field of :
  Fire / Police / Public Safety / Medical / Health-Care / Dental / Military / Social Services /
• Students will need to provide proof of enrollment in a post-secondary program within one year
• 750 – 1,000 word essay on the topic: “Why volunteering is important in my community”
• Reference(s) detailing volunteer work hours completed.
• 2 Letters of Reference from non-family members (detailing volunteer work hours completed)
  Prompt: “Why is volunteering important in my community?”
• By community, we are referring to where you live (e.g. Anmore or Belcarra), your school, community, faith community, team/club community and/or other communities you belong to.
  • Describe your “community”
    You may choose to use the following prompts to elaborate your response:
    o What was your role?
    o What volunteer service did you do?
    o What were your responsibilities? What did you accomplish?
    o How many hours did you serve?
    o Upon reflection, what did you learn from your experience? In what ways has this experience influenced your future direction?
• What program are you planning on studying? How will your community service assist you? Feel free to add any additional information to make your answer more complete. Important items to remember:
  Reference letters must accompany application and include contact details for your references.
  All applications to be completed and submitted no later than August 7th, 2024
• Heritage Woods Students can return completed applications to their Career Centre before deadline for pick up by SVFA or you can also return completed applications to your respective
  Village Hall ( Anmore or Belcarra ) before the deadline.
